Issue #4: Gemini edits whole slide decks, makes files for you, and ChatGPT adds account switching

1. Gemini in Google Slides can now rework an entire deck from one request (Oct 30)

Until now, Gemini in Slides mostly helped one slide at a time. Now you can type a single request in the Gemini side panel and it changes the whole presentation: refresh the look across every slide, update the content using files from your Google Drive, combine or expand slides, or make the styling consistent. Gemini lists what it changed in the side panel, and you can undo anything or roll back with version history. It’s English only for now and is rolling out gradually from Oct 29 to Google Workspace Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, and Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. Google says higher promotional usage limits run through at least December 1, 2026.

Does this matter to you? If you reuse the same proposal, bid, or company overview deck and spend time updating it: yes. Try “make the styling consistent across all slides” on a copy of an old deck first, and check the change summary before you send it. Source: Google Workspace Updates, Oct 30, 2026

2. The Gemini app can now create and edit real files (Oct 29)

You can now ask the Gemini app to make a file, preview it, and keep editing it in the same chat. It can create slide decks (which you can export to Google Slides, PowerPoint, or PDF), Google Sheets, Google Docs, PDFs, and plain text and Markdown files. PDFs work on the web and on mobile; the other file types are web only for now. It’s available now to all Google Workspace customers and to personal Google accounts, in every language the Gemini app supports.

Does this matter to you? Yes for almost anyone with a Google account, including the free tier: it’s a quick way to turn notes into a starter spreadsheet, checklist, or one-page PDF. Treat the output as a first draft and check the numbers before you use it. Source: Google Workspace Updates, Oct 29, 2026

3. Google Sheets’ “Fill with Gemini” now shows its web sources cell by cell (Oct 28)

When you use Gemini’s AI function in Google Sheets to fill in a column, for example looking up information about a list of companies, each filled-in cell now shows the exact web sources Gemini used. It can also handle up to 3,000 cells in one request. It’s rolling out gradually (up to 15 days from Oct 20) on the web for Workspace Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, and Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.

Does this matter to you? If you’ve used AI to fill in spreadsheets but didn’t trust the answers: yes, this makes checking much easier. Click into a few cells and confirm the sources before you rely on the results. Source: Google Workspace Updates, Oct 28, 2026

4. ChatGPT’s phone apps can now switch between two accounts (Oct 30)

If you have both a work and a personal ChatGPT account, you no longer have to sign out to change between them on your phone. The iPhone and Android apps now let you stay signed in to up to two accounts and switch from Settings, then Switch account. Each account keeps its own chats, memory, settings, and subscription. It’s rolling out now.

Does this matter to you? If you keep company work in a business account and personal questions in your own: yes, and it helps keep work information out of your personal account. Everyone else can skip it. Source: OpenAI ChatGPT release notes, Oct 30, 2026 entry

5. ChatGPT Pro plans get double the Work and Codex usage, and a planned cut is canceled (Oct 29)

OpenAI is giving its Pro plans more room to use ChatGPT Work, the agent that handles longer tasks like research, documents, and spreadsheets. The allowance also covers Codex. The Pro 100 and Pro 500 plans now include twice the Work and Codex usage they had before. OpenAI also canceled the cut to Pro 200 usage it announced in a September 29 email. If you already had the higher Pro 200 allowance, you keep it. If you’d been moved to the lower allowance, it doubles starting Oct 29, bringing you up to the same limit.

Does this matter to you? Only if you pay for ChatGPT Pro: you can hand ChatGPT Work more long tasks before hitting your limit, and Pro 200 subscribers no longer face the cut. Everyone else can skip it. Source: OpenAI ChatGPT release notes, Oct 29, 2026 entry
